Tip for easier viewing - do not park at the Altamonte Mall or any of the business areas South of the Lake - you'll get stuck there for a long time after the fireworks are over.

A short walk to the over-pass over I-4 near the vacant partially built story office building affords good viewing. OK, you are not near the lake's edge, but a good viewing spot police hold the traffic while folks walk out of the area. The best 4th of July fireworks show in Central Florida. The mall is right there and can be walked to. Ive been taking my daughter to this park since she was born. Lots of happy healthy people, no hoodlums or criminals. The cops run them off and fast, so they stay away. Kick butt halloween for the kids, we leave with pounds of candy that lasts well into the next year. The firworks and the 4th. Im not sure how the City gets away with such a massive fireworks display so close to everyone.

The lake is not that big, and during the finale, the ground shakes. Seriously, they seem to go off just over your head, not a bad seat in the house! No biking or skating on the pathway around the lake, which really sucks. The big multiplex is also right there, so you can walk to and from the movies as well. Julies is now closed, but is still open under a different name. Have yet to go, likely never will as I cook at home, but I not only digree, I ramble. Go on the 4th of July, and on Halloween.

Lovely spot for a walk and picnic. Located down the street from my hotel and across from a large shopping mall is this park. I packed a picnic lunch and headed out for the 1 mile circular path which winds along a small pond with numerous water birds, mostly cranes.

The park has restrooms, walkways that go out over the water, and is well travelled and clean. The birds will eagerly accept a handout of bread and the cranes are like pigeons about walking up to you for a snack.

There is also an ampitheatre and a schedule of entertainment which is on the website. They have a holiday light display, but I did not see it lit up yet. A nice free activity for families if you are looking for a nice stop to let the kids burn off some energy. Parking is available for shops along waterfront.

This is a park, mostly for walking and small concerts, fireworks shows, festivals etc. Read all replies. I am pretty sure that you cannot ride your bicycle on the pedestrian paths but there are plenty of areas around the park itself where I think you can ride. Just not on the actual path around the lake itself.
